本研究では、国際法上の最も重大な犯罪、すなわち、いわゆる中核犯罪（ジェノサイド罪、人道に対する犯罪や戦争犯罪等）の国内法化に関する比較法研究を行った。つまり、主として、諸外国の立法例を参照しながら、理論的検討課題および実施上の問題点を洗い出し、今後の日本の法制のあるべき姿、すなわち導入可能な「立法モデル」の構築にあたって、具体的な（主に刑事実体法上の）論点・課題を検証したことによって、立法化作業の前提となる理論的枠組みの解明に寄与した。また、本研究の一環として、中核犯罪の歴史的起源・形成過程等の研究にも取り組んだ。その成果として、極東国際軍事裁判（東京裁判）に関する共編著書（下掲）を刊行した。 This research project dealt with perspectives and challenges for the introduction of a "Code of Offences against International Law" into Japanese national criminal law. Utilizing legal comparative methods, this research focused in particular on the notion of international "core crimes", i.e. the most serious crimes under international law, and appropriate legislative models for their implementation in national legal orders. In this context, along with other publications, a jointly edited book on the historical origins of the concept of core crimes as exemplified by the Tokyo War Crimes Tribunal was published.
