• Note (General): type:text; ヒトのみが持つ言語という高次な認知機能を獲得するためには，文法構造，特に階層的構造の理解と学習，そして語彙や音韻獲得にも必要な統計的学習の能力が必須となる。本研究ではこれら２つの言語獲得に関与する学習能力の脳内機構を，新生児計測に適している機能的近赤外分光法(fNIRS)を用いて明らかにすることを目的とする。このために本研究は，新生児が（１）実験１：音の階層構造の学習と規則適用，（２）実験２：音韻の統計学習と適用をしている際の脳活動を計測し，その脳内機構を検討する。 3年計画の本研究では，まず１年目にこれら２つの実験の音声刺激を作成し，実験計画を立案し予備実験実施を予定していた。これらの計画は充分に達成された。実験１の音の階層構造の学習と規則適用の音声刺激を作成し，実験をデザインした。ヒトは，主語（A）がくればその後に何〔X〕が挿入されていても動詞（B）が来る階層性(AXB)を理解する。例えばThe boy [the girl loved] kicked the ball.のような文章で[X]内が長くてもThe boyに続く動詞がくることを私達は予期する。研究１はこのような階層性をピッチ形状の異なる音声（トーン）単位で表現した刺激を用いて，この規則学習時の脳反応，そして規則を学習した後に規則刺激と規則逸脱刺激に対する脳反応を計測することで，規則学習と処理に関わる脳内機構を明らかにすることとした。この実験デザインで成人に予備実験としてアイトラッカーを使った行動実験を行い，学習した刺激の再認テストを行った。その結果，確信度は低いが，つまり規則についてのメタ認知的な理解が低かったが，チャンスレベル以上に有意に再認が見られたので，学習が可能な刺激であることが確認された。そこで数名の6－7ヶ月児に各6分間の学習フェーズとテストフェーズによるNIRS実験を実施した。 Language is a higher cognitive ability unique to human. In order to acquire such language competence, one needs an ability to learn hierarchy structure of a grammar and statistical distribution to extract phonological and semantic information. The present study aims to uncover cerebral basis of these two types of learning system in neonates and infants by applying infant-friendly measurement instrument, functional Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (fNIRS). To this end, we will carry out two fNIRS experiments; 1) Experiment 1 on learning mechanism of hierarchy structures and 2) Experiment 2 on statistical learning of phonemes. The study measures hemodynamic activation and functional connectivity among different brain regions in neonates and 6–7-month-old infants. This year was the first year in a three yearlong project. As we planned, we synthesized sound stimulus and designed a protocol for two experiments. As for Experiment 1, we applied a behavioral experiment to adult participants as a pilot study. The participants successfully learned the grammatical rule consisted of different types of tones such as AXB and CXD and they were able to discriminate whether the stimuli were correct or incorrect. We further performed Experiment 1 to 6-7-month-old infants using fNIRS and we found the experiment was feasible.
