1年目の今年度は、史料や先行研究の調査・検討に力を注いだ。それを通じて、近世の民衆思想に関する論点を整理すると共に、新しい知見を得ることができた。このような基礎的な取り組みと関わって、横田冬彦『日本近世書物文化史の研究』（岩波書店、2018年）の書評を発表した。同書では、『徒然草』等の読書の主体であった元禄・享保期の上層民衆が通俗道徳の実践主体でもあったことが指摘されており、本研究課題と密接に関連する。また、寛永期の大坂町人である新屋九右衛門の書置（神戸大学経済経営研究所所蔵「廣岡家文書」）を調査し、近世前期の通俗道徳も『徒然草』に関する知とつながり得たことなどを確認した。そして、この知見を盛り込んだ原稿の作成を進めたが、順調にいけば、共編の図書に収録された一論考として、2023年に発表できる見込みである。一方、東京都港区の『港区史』第2巻通史編近世上（港区、2021年）が刊行され、私が執筆を担当した「第3章第1節　近世の宗教」と「第3章第2節　寺院の組織と制度」では、民衆思想に関する問題も扱われている。また、日中友好協会港支部主催文化講座で「江戸時代の宗教と社会」と題して単独で講演し、ここでも民衆思想に関する問題を取り上げた。なお、2021年度歴史学研究会大会近世史部会で「近世前期の宗派紛争と政教関係」と題して単独で報告し、その概要をまとめた同じタイトルの論文を『歴史学研究』第1015号（2021年）に発表した。これは民衆思想を主題としたものではないが、近世前期の浄土宗・法華宗と関わる民衆の信仰などに触れている。また、私が監修者の一人として関与した本興寺編『本興寺文書』第6巻（清文堂出版、2021年）が刊行された。同書は近世の寺院史に関する成果だが、民衆と法華宗とのつながりが分かる史料も収録されているため、併せて付記しておきたい。以上のように、今年度は概ね順調に研究を進めることができた。ただし、予定通りに実施できなかった史料調査もあるため、今後の課題としたい。 In this first year, I focused on researching and reviewing historical documents and previous studies. By doing so, I was able to organize issues related to popular thought in early modern Japan, as well as gain new knowledge. I also wrote a book review and other manuscripts and gave a lecture related to my research project. In the process, I was able to present my findings on the common morality and Buddhist thought of the Japanese people in the early modern period. Overall, I was able to proceed with my research almost smoothly this year. However, there are some historical materials surveys that could not be carried out as planned, so I would like to make this a topic for the future.
