• Note (General): type:text; 本研究は、2018年に採択された研究課題に引き続き、日本で広く共有されている「女性は理系科目が苦手である」という先入観により、評価対象者が男性である場合に比べ、女性である場合では、理系能力に関する低い評価基準が適用され、「女性のわりによくできる」といった表面的な高評価が生じるという仮説 (仮説1) の検証に取り組んだ。また、理系能力を表す客観的な指標については、評価対象者が男性である場合より女性である場合に、低い値で記憶再生されるという仮説 (仮説2) についても検証した。これらの仮説を検証するために、社会人の男女各64名計128名を対象にオンライン上で実験を実施した。実験参加者にはある大学生の履歴書を呈示し、その内容に基づいて学生の印象を評定するよう求めた。半数の参加者には、女子学生の履歴書を呈示し、残りの参加者には男子学生の履歴書を呈示した。履歴書には、氏名や性別、年齢といった基本的な属性に加え、就職試験で一般的によく利用されるSPI の言語分野 (主に国語) と非言語分野(主に数学) の試験結果を偏差値で掲載した。言語分野よりも非言語分野の偏差値を高く設定し、当該学生の理系能力が高いことを示した。 仮説1を検証するために、評価対象者の理系能力に関する印象評定の値について、男子大学生条件と女子大学生条件で平均値を比較したが、条件間の差は見られず、仮説1は支持されなかった。また、仮説2を検証するために、履歴書に載されていた非言語分野のSPI の偏差値について記憶再生を求めた値を条件間で比較した結果、再生したSPI の数値に条件間の差は見られなかった。よって、仮説2も不支持となった。以上の結果から、本研究では、女性の理系能力を評価する際に男性よりも低い評価基準を適用するという現象は確認することができなかった。仮説が支持されなかった原因について引き続き考察する必要がある。 This study was conducted to test the hypothesis that, due to the widely shared stereotypes in Japan that women are not good at science subjects, lower evaluation standards for science ability are applied to women than to men, resulting in superficially high evaluations, such as "This person can do well for a woman" (Hypothesis 1). This study also tested the hypothesis that objective indicators of science ability are recalled at lower values when the person being evaluated is a woman than when the person being evaluated is a man (Hypothesis 2). To test these hypotheses, I conducted an online experiment with 128 working adults, 64 men and 64 women each. Participants were presented with a college student's resume and asked to evaluate their impressions of the student based on the contents of the resume. Half of the participants were presented with the resume of a female student, and the remaining participants were presented with the resume of a male student. In addition to basic attributes such as name, gender, and age, the resumes included deviation scores from the SPI verbal (mainly Japanese) and nonverbal (mainly mathematics) tests, which are commonly used in employment exams. The deviation score in the non-verbal field was set higher than that in the verbal field, indicating that the students in question had high science ability. To test Hypothesis 1, I compared the mean values of the evaluated students' impression ratings of their science ability between the male and female student conditions, but no differences were found between the conditions, and Hypothesis 1 was not supported. To test Hypothesis 2, I also compared the values obtained by memory for the deviation values of the SPI in the non-verbal field that were included in the resume between conditions and found no differences in the recalled SPI values between the conditions. Therefore, Hypothesis 2 was also not supported. Based on these results, the present study could not confirm the phenomenon that lower evaluation criteria were applied to women's science ability than to men's science ability. It is necessary to continue to consider the reasons why the hypotheses were not supported.
