本年度は事業計画（１年目）に従って、研究の大半を資料の基礎的な調査に充てた。明治・大正期は、日本における西洋音楽の導入期であり、西洋音楽の演奏を聴くことができる場所が限定されていたことを考慮して、まず東京音楽学校（1887年設立）の定期演奏会の記録の調査を行った。東京音楽学校は、日本の洋楽黎明期の早い時期から、西洋音楽の演奏会を開催したほとんど唯一の教育機関である。東京音楽学校の定期演奏会記録（『東京藝術大学百年史』による）から判明したのは、以下の点である。①演奏会曲目全体に占めるフランスの作曲家の作品の割合、②演奏会で取り上げられた作品の作曲家および、③演奏された作品のジャンル。定期演奏会でのフランス音楽の演奏は、ごく限られた作曲家の作品のよく知られたオペラのアリアまたは、短い管弦楽曲（あるいは管弦楽曲の一部）に限られており、ピアノ曲やヴァイオリン曲の独奏は行われていなかった。次に、東京音楽学校定期演奏会にかんする批評記事の有無と内容を調査した。当時、刊行されていた複数の音楽雑誌のうち、『音楽』では定期演奏会の批評が頻繁に掲載されており、演奏の評価だけでなく、作品や作曲家についての解説があった。さらに、当時東京音楽学校に所蔵されていた資料（楽譜および伝記や理論書等）の調査を行った。東京音楽学校の蔵書資料の調査は、当時の教育内容だけでなく、演奏会レパートリーを把握する上でも重要である。また1900年代に入ると、東京音楽学校の定期演奏会や日比谷野外音楽堂等での演奏会に加えて、外国人演奏家による来日公演が実現されるようになることを考慮し、当時の新聞と音楽雑誌から、日本国内で行われた西洋音楽の演奏会を抽出して、フランスの作曲家の作品が演奏曲目に含まれているかどうか調査した。これに関しては、現在も調査を継続している。徳川頼貞が欧州遊学の際に大量に収集した楽譜や音楽書が所収された南葵音楽文庫についても調査中である。南葵音楽文庫では、蔵書資料の一般公開だけでなく、パイプオルガンが設置された音楽堂では、度々演奏会が催されていた。 According to plan, this year was devoted to documents research. Firstly, I researched on documents of regular public concerts held at Tokyo Academy of Music (Tokyo Ongaku Gakko). Tokyo Academy of Music, founded in 1887, was one of the first establishments held Western-style music concerts in Meiji era. These documents show 1. the proportion of French music to all concert programs, 2. composer's name of French music played in a series of concerts, and 3. genre of French music played. Secondly, concert reviews published in newspapers and musical magazines were examined. Thirdly, a library of music scores and books on music theory at earlier Tokyo Academy of Music. I also work on researching on Yorisada Tokugawa and Nanki Music Collection (Nanki Ongaku Bunko). Yorisada Tokugawa, the founder of this large music collection, was one of the musicologists played a central role in the introduction of Western-style music in Japan.
