• Note (General): type:text; 2021年度は2019年度の学事振興資金の研究成果として出版された『真訳 シェイクスピア四大悲劇』（石井美樹子訳・横山千晶監訳・中村哲子協力）をもとに、東北で活動するシェイクスピア・カンパニーと協力して劇の舞台化を進めるために、読書会と研究会を開催した。講師はエリザベス朝の歴史に詳しい神奈川大学名誉教授の石井美樹子氏とシェイクスピア・カンパニーの主宰であり、東北学院大学の教授、下館和巳氏である。2019年度の成果を踏まえ、秋に仙台近郊の多賀城市から多賀城創建1300年の記念事業としてシェイクスピア演劇の公演の可能性の依頼を受け(2024年に公演）、急きょ、多賀城市役所のメンバーも参加しての拡大読書会が開催されることとなった。今回のシェイクスピア劇の上演は、東北大震災によって大きな被害を受けた東北の復興、および2020年以降、パンデミックによって分断された人々の心をつなぎ合わせるというグローバルな人間関係の復興を意図するもので、多賀城市より提案された劇はそれらの目的にふさわしく『冬物語』であった。ここから『冬物語』の翻訳と内容についてのディスカッションが始められることとなった。東京で行われた研究会では仙台の演劇チームとオンラインでつないで翻訳作成を進め、シェイクスピア・カンパニーと多賀城市との話し合いにおいては研究代表者の横山千晶と、石井美樹子氏とが計3回仙台と多賀城市へ向かい、石井氏とシェイクスピアカンパニーの下館和巳氏を講師として、連続のハイブリッド研究会と読書会を開催した。その成果として1月の終わりに『冬物語』の翻訳が完成し、2月には仙台チームと読み合わせとディスカッションを行い、最終的な翻訳の完成に至った。 また『冬物語』のみならず、拓殖大学名誉教の授伊澤東一氏を講師に迎えて、パンデミックの影響をその内容に色濃く出している『ロミオとジュリエット』をめぐる研究会をハイブリッド形式で東京にて開催し、パンデミックの時代だからこそ、読み解くべきシェイクスピアの意義について議論した。 In 2021, we cooperated with the Shakespeare Company in Sendai for the research with the intention of performing a Shakespeare's tragedy, based on the "True Translation: Shakespeare's Four Great Tragedies" (translated by Mikiko Ishii and supervised by Chiaki Yokoyama) published as a research result of the Keio University Academic Development Fund in 2019. This year, we started a study group inviting two main lecturers: Prof. Mikiko Ishii, a professor emeritus at Kanagawa University who is an expert in the history of the Elizabethan Era, and Prof. Kazumi Shimodate, a professor at Tohoku Gakuin University who also presides over the Shakespeare Company. In the fall, we received a request from Tagajo City near Sendai for the possibility of setting the Shakespeare theater in 2024 as a commemorative project for the 1300th anniversary of the founding of the castle, Tagajo, and we expanded our research team and held reading meetings with the members of Tagajo City Office. Performing Shakespeare plays symbolizes the reconstruction of Tohoku, which was severely damaged by the Great Tohoku Earthquake in 2011, and aims the reconstruction of global human relations, which will connect those who have been divided by the pandemic damage globally since the year 2020. The play proposed by Tagajo City, "The Winter's Tale", is most suitable for those aims. Thus the translation of "The Winter's Tale (Fuyu Monogatari)" and the discussion of the contents started. At the study session held in Tokyo, research of "The Winter's Tale" and making its Japanese translation were conducted online with the Sendai team. For the discussions with the members of the Shakespeare Company and of Tagajo City Office, the project leader, Chiaki Yokoyama, and Prof. Mikiko Ishii headed to Sendai and Tagajo City, holding a series of hybrid study meetings and reading sessions with Prof. Ishii and Prof. Kazumi Shimodate of the Shakespeare Company as lecturers. As a result, the translation of "Fuyu Monogatari" was completed at the end of January, and in February, we analyzed the translation and discussed with the Sendai team, leading to the final translation. In addition to "The Winter's Tale", we also held a research session on "Romeo and Juliet", which has a strong influence of the pandemic, with Prof. Toichi Izawa (a professor emeritus at Takushoku University) as a lecturer. Thus researchers shared the significance of reading and performing Shakespeare plays in the age of COVID-19.
