• Note (General): type:text; 江戸期には、和漢の様々な古典文学が絵画化された。このうち、平安時代の著名な文学作品である伊勢物語は、近世においてもテキストに引用されるなどしており、おもに庶民向けの版本類にとりあげられたものである。そしてそこにはテキストのみならず、往時の絵師たちによる物語図像を伴う例も少なくなかったのである。 本研究は、主として江戸期の町人世界において普及した伊勢物語の絵画＝伊勢絵について、江戸期の浮世絵師が描いた同種の作例を重点的に検証し、当該期の関連作例ならではの特色を抽出、分類するとともに、分析や検討、考察を加えるものである。 今回、江戸期の浮世絵師が描いた伊勢絵では、まず江戸前期の浮世絵の開祖・菱川師宣の諸作例のうち、従来言及されることのない『名所和歌の道引』（天和二）をとりあげた。これより時代の下った西川祐信『伊勢物語』（延享四）などでも同様だが、江戸前期から中期にかけて浮世絵師により作画された伊勢絵は、基本的に過去の物語絵図様を踏襲したものが多く、加えられた変容はせいぜいのところ、人物の面貌描写等の絵師様式化、あるいは、登場する人物を江戸風俗に置換する「やつし」に限られている。このことは、往時の手習本である「往来物」と呼ばれる版本の挿図に伊勢絵がしばしば登場する理由を明示するが、それはすなわち、当該期にはもっぱら、庶民向けの基礎的な教養として伊勢絵の定型図像が求められるに過ぎなかった、という事実である。 ただし、当世化のなかには、著しい図様の変容を示す例もある。とくに幕末動乱期の作として、人気絵師の三代歌川豊国による錦絵版画『東海道名所之内』連作中、「池鯉鮒八ツ橋」などが注目される。この時期には、広重の東海道連作版画の人気にことよせた定番の人気商品として、揃物形式の版画集が多数刊行されたが、文久三年刊行の本図では名にし負う伊勢物語の八つ橋の故事を描くも、その背景に時の十三代将軍徳川家定の上洛行列が描き出されている。王朝以来の名所が、人心の不安を掻き立てる幕末の世相のなかで、著しい変奏を加えられて最認識されるようすに、驚かされるのである。 During the Edo period (1603-1868), many paintings were produced based on various classical Japanese and Chinese literary works. Among them, the Ise Monogatari, a famous literary work from the Heian period, was frequently used as a text for children in the early edo period, and was frequently included in printed books mainly for the common people. This time, I focused on Ise-e drawn by ukiyo-e artists in the Edo period. Among them, I first took up "Meisho Waka no Michibiki" (1682), a work by Hishikawa Moronobu, the founder of ukiyo-e in the early Edo period, which has never been mentioned before. This is also the case with Ise Monogatari (1747) by Nishikawa Sukenobu, a later work, but the Ise paintings by ukiyoe artists in the early to mid-Edo period were based on previous story illustrations. In the majority of cases, the changes made were limited to the stylization of the characters' faces, or the substitution of Edo customs for those of the characters themselves. This explains why Ise-e often appeared in the illustrations of printed books called ourai-mono, which were handbooks of the old days. However, there are some examples of the modernization of Ise-e that show a remarkable transformation. Particularly noteworthy among the works from the turbulent period at the end of the Edo period is Chiryuu Yatsuhashi, one of a series of nishiki-e prints of Tokaido Meisho no Uchi by the popular painter Utagawa Toyokuni III. During this period, a number of print collections in the form of a set were published as a standard and popular product following the series of prints of Tokaido by Hiroshige, and this illustration, published in 1863, depicts the procession of the 13th shogun, Tokugawa Iesada, to Kyoto against the background of the famous Ise Monogatari story of the Eight Bridges. It is astonishing to see how a famous place that has been around since the days of the imperial dynasty has been recognized with a great change in the world of the last days of the Tokugawa shogunate, which stirred up anxiety in the hearts of the people.
