• Note (General): type:text; 20世紀転換期のドイツにおいて19世紀の歴史主義を否定し、新しい近代の庭園芸術を創出すべく広く展開した「改革庭園」は、従来、概して美術史学、建築史学、庭園史学、造園史学、文化史学に特有な関心に基づき議論されてきた。それに対して本研究は、19世紀末に成立する近代芸術学の系譜を重視し、そこで重点的に検討された建築理論における空間概念論と、新たな庭園的空間形成に向けた改革庭園の関心とが理念と実践双方において必然的に接合する地点に着目する。両者の接合を媒介した「空間-時間的空間形成」に関わる主要概念の芸術学的意義を解明することで、改革庭園研究を新たな視座へと転回することを目的として取り組まれた。 本年度は、改革庭園を主導した建築家であり、件の「接合」地点として重要なペーター・ベーレンス（1868-1940）を考察対象とし、1910年前後期に彼が近代芸術学を参照して検討した「庭園的空間形成」問題を、1920年代初頭から1930年頃にかけて独自の論理へと展開する芸術制作論的プロセスとの関わりにおいて再考した。とりわけ再考を要したのが「造園（Gartenbau）」概念である。改革庭園の文脈においてこの概念が、単に庭園を造ることに留まらず、むしろ近代的居住環境を創出するとの意における「造家造園」である事実を一次資料精査に基づき明らかにした（成果論文「インターフェイスとしての近代庭園」）。 さらに、先行研究において未検討なアスペクトとして、改革庭園を主導した造園専門家が同時代の近代芸術をいかに受け止め、接近を試みていたかについて明らかにすることも重要な課題であった。成果論文「庭園芸術が問う技術時代の総合芸術」では、申請者が近年取り組んでいる近代庭園芸術研究の新たな可能性としての「庭園芸術学（Gartenkunstwissenschaft）」を方法論的基盤として、1920年代初頭のバウハウスをめぐる動向を庭園芸術専門雑誌の精査を通して実証的に明らかにした。 The "Reform Garden," which developed widely in Germany at the turn of the 20th century to reject 19th century historicism and create a new modern garden art, has traditionally been discussed based on interests specific to art history, architecture history, garden history, landscape architecture history, and cultural history. This study, on the other hand, focuses on the genealogy of modern art theories at the end of the 19th century, where the spatial conceptualism of architectural theory and the interest in reforming gardens to create new garden-like spaces inevitably converge in terms of both philosophy and practice. The purpose of this project was to turn the study of reform gardens to a new perspective by clarifying the art theoretical significance of the main concepts related to "spatial-temporal spatial formation" that mediated the junction of the two. This year, I will focus on Peter Behrens (1868-1940), the architect who led the Reform Garden and an important "junction" point of both philosophy and practice, and examine the issue of "garden-like spatial formation," which he examined with reference to modern art theories around 1910, in relation to the evolving art production theory process that developed to its own logic from the early 1920s to around 1930. In particular, the concept of "Gartenbau" required reconsideration. Based on a close examination of primary sources, I clarified that this concept in the context of reform gardens is not limited to the mere creation of gardens, but is rather "building houses and building gardens" in the sense of creating a modern living environment (the resulting paper, "Modern Gardens as an Interface"). Furthermore, it was also important to clarify how the landscape architects who led the reform garden received and attempted to approach the modern art of the same period as an aspect that has not been examined in previous studies. Based on the methodological foundation of "Gartenkunstwissenschaft" as a new possibility for the study of modern garden art, which the applicant has been working on in recent years, the resulting paper, " Garden Art asks Total Work of Art (Gesamtkunstwerk) in the Technological Age," empirically clarified trends surrounding Bauhaus in the early 1920s through a close examination of journals dedicated to garden art.
