• Note (General): type:text; 青年期までは詩人・劇作家として名を成していたユゴー(1802-1885)が、壮年期以降いかにして「小説家」として自己形成していったのか。「詩人」と「小説家」との棲み分けは、この作家の内面においていかになされていたのか、あるいはなされていなかったのか。ユゴー の創作活動のみならず、作品受容や作家像の変遷にも関わるその謎に光を当てるのが、本研究の目的である。 2 年計画の 2年目であった本年度は、共訳によりミシェル・ビュトール『レペルトワール III』を上梓した。本書は、20 世紀フランス を代表する作家ビュトールによる評論集であり、私はそのうち 2 つの論考(「闇から出る声と壁をとおして滲み出る毒」および「インクの芽生え」)の訳 出を担当した。前者はユゴーの韻文劇を中心に分析する一方、後者はユゴー独特の歴史観と天才論を分析している。現在では顧みられることの少ないユゴーの韻文劇を、ユゴーの詩作の原点と位置づけるビュトールの論述は、本研究の考察を深める大きな契機となった。さらに1830年代後半以降、ユゴーが劇作を韻文ではなく散文で行なうことになった事実は、散文作家として覚醒してゆく過程の一つの例証と言え、この気づきを得られたことも本翻訳作業の恩恵であった。また年度内の出版は叶わなかったものの、フランス抒情詩をテーマとした共著書刊行に際し、ユゴーにおける抒情性（リリスム）をめぐる論考を執筆した。この論文においては、ユゴーの「抒情性」の本質は「抒情詩」のみの分析では把握できないとの観点から、小説・戯曲・批評文へと視野を広げる必要性を強調した。そして、ユゴーの詩の一つ一つはいわば「未完」を厭わない作品なのであり、未完かつ仮説であることこそが、この作家の思想を象徴していると指摘した。 How did Victor Hugo (1802-1885), who was above all known as a poet and playwright before his exile, form himself as a "novelist" from the 1860s? What is the distinction between "poet" and "novelist" for this writer? Besides, did the distinction really exist in him? Our research aims to shed light on this mystery which concerns not only Hugo's works but also their reception and the transition of his image as a writer. During the 2022 academic year, we translated some articles from "Répertoire III", which is a collection of reviews by Michel Butor, a famous French writer of the 20th century. I translated two articles from it ("Voices from the Darkness and Poisons Seeping Through the Walls" and "Sprouts of Ink"). The first analyzes Hugo's verse drama, while the last deals with his vision of History and geniuses. The reflection of Butor, who attaches great importance to the verse drama of Hugo, underestimated today, as the origin of his poetry, is a great opportunity to deepen my reflection on this research. Moreover, from the second half of the 1830s, Hugo began to write dramatic pieces in prose rather than verse, which highlights the process of awakening as a prose writer in Hugo. Although it was not published during the year, I also wrote a memoir on lyricism with Hugo for the publication of a co-written book on the theme of French lyric poetry. In this article, I have emphasized the need to analyze not only lyric poetry, but also novels, plays and critical writings, to fully understand its lyricism. I concluded there that each of Hugo's poems is in some way an "unfinished" work, and that its imperfection, if not its hypothetical character, symbolizes the thoughts of the writer.
