本報告書では「組織の環境適応に関する理論的・実証的検討」の研究成果の一つとして主に「経営教育研究」に掲載予定（近刊）の論文の概要について説明する。組織変革は経営学、とりわけ経営組織論の中心的なテーマの一つであり、多様な議論が展開されてきた。たとえば、組織変革の従来の研究としてはライフサイクルモデルや、断続的均衡モデル(punctuated equilibrium model)などがあげられるであろう。また、その後の研究としては継続的変革モデルなども注目されている。これまでステータスの概念は社会科学者の関心を集めており、社会学や社会心理学などの分野で研究が蓄積されてきた。経営学の分野では必ずしも中心的な概念ではなかったが、近年は研究が活発に行われているといえる。Sauder et al. (2012：270)によると、ステータスのアドバンテージとしてはいくつか挙げられる。第１に、高いステータスの組織は高い値段設定が可能であり、その結果収益が上がる点である。第２に、高いステータスが取引コストや採用コスト、人件費などのコストを節約できる点である。ステータスと組織変革の関係性については必ずしも多く研究されてきたわけではないが、既存研究を踏まえると組織変革の推進要因にもなりえると思われる。しかし、既存研究ではこれについて十分に検討されてこなかったため、本論文ではステータス論を用いつつ、組織適応・組織変革研究の既存研究における研究課題と今後の研究方向性を検討している。 This report　mainly describes an article published in Management Development. Organizational adaptation is one of the central themes in management studies and the concept of status has attracted the interest of social scientists. Although status has not been a central concept in management studies, in recent years researchers have been interested in the concept. According to Sauder et al (2012: 270), there are several advantages of status. First, high status organizations are able to charge higher prices and thus increase their revenues. Second, high status can reduce transaction and recruitment costs. The relationship between status theory and organizational adaptation has not been well studied. However, given previous research on status theory, status can be a driver of organizational adaptation. Drawing insight from prior literature on statusy theory, this research critically examines the existing research on organizational adaptation and organizational change and proposes a future direction.
