• Note (General): type:text; 血小板が付着しない材料開発は医療材料応用に向けて必須である。すなわち高い抗血栓性が、血液接触をする医療器具のための材料には欠かせない。高抗血栓性材料のうち、今日着目されているのが、流動性材料として知られるpoly(2-methoxyethyl acrylate)（PMEA）である。しかし、PMEAは液体の性質が強いため、室温で流動する。このため、PMEAは医療器具において、固体材料や構造材料としては使えない。よって、コーティング用途でしか使用できない現状が問題となっている。そこで、本研究では、室温においても固体の汎用性ポリマーであるpolystyrene（PS：ポリスチレン）に着目し、PMEAをPSと分子レベルで共重合させることを試みた。すなわち、固体のPSと液状のPMEA分子を化学的に結合し、新しい固体状のPMEAを合成できないかを検討した。本研究の目的は、PSとPMEAのブロック共重合化により、液状PMEAの固形化に挑戦し、その構造と物性を解析することである。2020年度は、PSとのブロック共重合化による固形PMEA（PS-PMEA-PS）の合成に成功した。原子移動ラジカル重合法 (ATRP法) によって合成したPSモル分率が0.24～0.72のPS-PMEA-PSブロック共重合体について、2021年度は核磁気共鳴法（NMR）や赤外分光法（IR）にて構造解析を行った。すべての固形化がほぼ実現できPSモル分率と分子量の関係性をみた。また、熱物性評価を進め、示差走査熱量（DSC）測定により、PMEAブロックのTgがおおよそ-28℃近辺にあることがわかった。PSブロックのTgは109℃に確認できた（純粋のPSのTgとほぼ同じ）。2022年度の力学物性評価により、PSモル分率が0.24から0.72に増加するとヤング率は0.46 MPaから269 MPaまで，引張強度は0.59 MPaから18.2 MPaまで増加し，破断ひずみは433%から210%まで減少することがわかった。また、抗血栓性評価により、PSモル分率が0.42以下のPS-PMEA-PSは、PMEAと同程度の高い抗血栓性を有していることがわかった。 For the medical devices used in direct contact with blood, antithrombogenicity is one of the key properties required for a material used in the medical devices targeting biomedical applications. The previously investigated liquid poly(2-methoxyethyl acrylate) (PMEA) has excellent antithrombogenicity, insolubility in water, and non-toxicity to the human body, which has been, therefore, successfully used as a coating material for e.g., a cardiopulmonary bypass. However, because of its low glass transition temperature (Tg = -34°C), PMEA is in the liquid state at room temperature, which prevents its molding. Therefore, PMEA in itself cannot be directly used as a solid structural material. To use PMEA as a solid medical-device material, it is necessary to solidify PMEA at room temperature. In this study, in order to solidify PMEA, we focused on the block copolymerization of PMEA with polystyrene (PS) possessing higher glass transition temperature (>room temperature). PS-PMEA-PS triblock copolymers (the molar fractions of PS: 0.24-0.72) were synthesized by the atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) and the thermal, mechanical, and antithrombogenicity properties of the newly synthesized PMEA block copolymers have been investigated.
