ブルーリ潰瘍は、西アフリカを中心に流行するMycobacterium ulceransによる皮膚感染症であり、WHOの挙げる20のNTDsのうちの一つである。早期の診断・治療を行わないと全身の広範囲の潰瘍を生じ、関節に病変が及ぶことで永続的な機能障害を呈する。近年ブルーリ潰瘍流行地域は拡大しているが、主に流行している西アフリカでの特定の施設以外での確定診断の実施は困難である。そこで、どこででも実施可能なブルーリ潰瘍診断法開発のために、LAMPクロマトグラフィを用いた検出法の開発を行い、良好な結果を得た。 Buruli ulcer is a skin infection caused by Mycobacterium ulcerans that is endemic mainly in West Africa and is one of the 20 NTDs listed by WHO. Without early diagnosis and treatment, extensive ulcers will develop throughout the body, and lead to permanent functional disability. In recent years, the endemic area of Buruli ulcer has been expanding, but in West Africa, the main endemic area, it is difficult to make a definitive diagnosis except at specific facilities. Therefore, to develop a diagnostic method for Buruli ulcer that can be performed anywhere, we have developed a detection method using LAMP chromatography and have obtained good results.
