Note (General): Wood slips (wooden tablets) excavated in China contain information such as the description of documents and the shape of the tablet. However, the information of writing style has not been effectively utilized until today. In this project, we have carried out basic work to incorporate the analysis of writing styles as a new research perspective. In order to do so, we developed an algorithm to automatically cut out each character from the image data of a wooden slip by using AI, and then started to build a system to determine how much a certain character deviates from the respectful writing style also by using AI. This paper explores new possibilities in the wood slip studies, showing some examples of how the writing style of characters is related to the analysis of document administration in the Han period.
