Note (General): It goes without saying that compiling a bibliography is valuable for various studies in the humanities, as they provide essential starting points for writing a research paper. In this paper, through focusing on the studies of the Osaka Painting Schools (Osaka Gadan) from the Edo period to the modern era, I would like to point out the problems in compiling a bibliography in this field and discuss its significance. With the development of the Internet and other technologies, experienced knowledge is no longer required for searching the relevant literature. However, at the same time, such digital advancement is now allowing the researchers to focus on the fundamental lements of the scholarship of the humanities, that is, original thinking and imagination.
