Note (General): ゲノムDNAの積極的脱メチル化に関連する酵素群（ヒドロキシラーゼ、デアミナーゼ、グリコシラーゼ）について、胚性幹細胞（ES細胞）やがん細胞株をはじめとする様々な細胞株での発現様式を定量RT-PCR法で測定した。DNA脱メチル化の第一段階を担うTET1ヒドロキシラーゼ遺伝子が、ES細胞の分化・未分化状態、初代培養細胞の増殖・セネセンス状態に対応して、特徴的な発現を示すことが明らかになった。また、特定のがん細胞株におけるTET1遺伝子の著しい発現低下は、がんの悪性度・予後と関係が深いCpG アイランドメチル化形質（CIMP）との関連が強く示唆された。
