薄型中空スキャナを用いることで,試料の下方から集光した中赤外光を照射しつつ,試料表面を観察できる周波数変調原子間力顕微鏡(FM-AFM)を開発した。赤外光照射によって生じる微小な変化を検出するために,カンチレバーを小型化してFM-AFMの感度を格段に向上させた。さらに,ポリスチレン-PMMAブロックコポリマーの相分離膜を観察し,本装置により分子種識別イメージングが可能であることを示した。
We have developed frequency modulation atomic force microscope(FM-AFM) with a capability of irradiating a focused mid-infrared light from the bottom of the sample using a flat-type scanner with a hollow at the center. We have also achieved a significant improvement in the FM-AFM force sensitivity using a small cantilever to detect a subtle change in the surface property caused by the irradiation of an infrared light. We have demonstrated the molecular recognition capability of the developed microscope by imaging a phase-separated polystyrene-PMMA block copolymer thin film.
