研究目的は、アラビア半島のオマーン湾港町遺跡ディバを発掘し、その出土品を用いて地域間の技術的影響の様相を時代的に探ることであった。遺跡出土品には現地産製品、及びオマーン、イエメンなどの周辺地域産製品の他に、現在の中国、ベトナム、タイ、ミャンマー、ウズベキスタン、イラン、イラク産の生活用品があり、その種類と組み合わせ、量的な比率、流通状態の時代的変遷から、当時の海上貿易で物が交流した実態が推測できるようになった。こうした研究は広範囲の陶磁器資料を扱っている研究代表者による成果が期待されていたが、世界史的にも未知の地域の歴史資料が増加したことにより、研究の意義が深まることとなった出土した各地域産の陶磁器やガラス、生活用具、装飾品は、地域間技術交流の実態と海上貿易が果たした地域生活文化の形成過程を考える資料として有用なものとなった。層位的に収集した出土品の整理分類で貿易品と地域内生産品の同時代組み合わせの状態が判明した。産地ごとに分類した陶磁器の種類・器種・器形を調べ、代表的な器形は実測図を作成し写真を撮影し、重量や破片数を計測してデータ表を作成した。これまで他の遺跡で調査研究した物や研究成果と比較して、各種製品の流通圏が想定できるようになった。各種類の陶磁器製作技術を比較検討し、地域間の技術交流の様相を時代的にとらえることもできるようになった。運ばれた物資が生産した地域の文化特徴を他地域の文化要素に伝え、その痕跡が輸入した地域の技術に影響し、地域間技術交流の程度や文化接触の様相を伝える資料となったことを実証した
The aim of this study is to shed light on the technical influence between Arabian Peninsula and East Asian countries seen from the maritime trade history. We had excavations at Diba port town site in Sharjah Emirate, the United Arab Emirates. Houses were dug and many finds were unveiled from the site. Excavated ceramics were imported from East and Southeast Asian countries as well as Iran and Central Asia. Finds from the site tell us that the usage of ceramics as a daily life materials, dating of the combination of finds, changing of the daily life materials by periods and their quantity at the excavated site. Using these excavated date from Diba, it becomes clear that technical influence between Arabian Peninsula and the other countries by the seaborne trade in the Indian Ocean in ancient times.
