• Note (General): 金沢大学数物科学系; 5次元が連続空間ではなく、離散的、つまり格子上にコンパクト化されていると5次元目に正多角形の対称性がごく自然に存在する。この正多角形の対称性がフレーバーの対称性になっていることを具体的に示し、素粒子の模型を構築した。フレーバー対称性は標準理論のフレーバーの構造を決めているだけではなく、標準理論が超対称化された場合に生ずるSUSYフレバー問題を解決する糸口になっている。さらに、有限群Q6に基づくフレーバー対称性を持つ超対称模型において、Flavor Changing Neutral Current(FCNC)反応(電荷を変えないで粒子の種類が変わる反応)と陽子崩壊ついての調査を行なった。一般に超対称模型は短かすぎる陽子の寿命を予言し、崩壊モードはフレーバーの構造を反映することも知られている。我々は、$Q_{6}$フレーバー対称性が陽子崩壊に及ぼす影響を調べた。その結果、この対称性によって対称性が無い場合と比べて陽子の寿命を約一万倍にすることができることや、実際に各種の崩壊モードが測定された場合、フレーバー対称性を実験的に検証することができる可能性があるとこを指摘した。これら結果は、標準理論を超える素粒子論の発展に大きな影響を与えるもであると期待できる。; * Monte Carlo simulations are performed in a five-dimensional lattice SU(2) Yang-Mills theory with, a compactified extra dimension, and scaling laws are studied. Our simulations indicate that as the compactification radius decreases, the confining phase spreads more and more to the weak coupling regime, and the effective dimension of the theory changes gradually from five to four.* In extra dimensions the infrared attractive force of gauge interactions is amplified. We find that this force can align in the infrared limit the soft-supersymmetry breaking terms out of their anarchical disorder at a fundamental scale, in such a way that flavor-changing neutral currents as well as dangerous CP-violating phases are sufficiently suppressed at the unification scale.* To achieve a maximal locality in a trivial field theory, we maximize the ultraviolet cutoff of the theory by fine tuning the infrared values of the parameters. Our result supports the previously made claim that the maximization of the ultraviolet cutoff in an nonrenormalizable field theory can give the theory more predictive power.* The leptonic sector in a recently proposed minimal extension of the standard model, in which the permutation symmetry S3 is assumed to be an exact flavor symmetry at the weak scale, is revisited. We find that S3 with an additional ZN symmetry allows CP violating phases in the neutrino mixing. The leptonic sector contains six real parameters with two independent phases to describe charged lepton and neutrino masses and the neutrino mixing. The predictions of the model can be tested in experiments in near future.* Extra dimension deconstructed on a closed chain has naturally the symmetry of a regular polygon, the dihedral symmetry DN. It is found that the Q2N symmetry appears as an intact, internal global flavor symmetry at low energies.
