環境調和型有機合成反応の開発を指向し、水中での分子間相互作用による官能基化した三次元的反応場構築法を展開し、安価で、生命に対して重要である亜鉛金属イオンを用いた触媒反応の開発を行った。この触媒を用いた糖類の不斉合成反応への応用を検討したところ、入手困難な希少糖として知られるD-プシコースやD-タガトースが得られた。D-プシコースは生物活性があることがわかっており、希少糖の医薬品および機能性食品としての応用展開に大きく貢献できたと考えている。
The purpose of this research is to develop environmentally friendly Zn^<2+>-catalysts which have three dimensionally functionalized inner sphere in water solution for asymmetric synthesis. The catalysts were applied to an asymmetric synthesis of rare sugars which is known to be a little in nature and have bioactivities. Therefore, it is considered that the asymmetric aldol reaction for the synthesis of the rare sugars contributes development of its usage for pharmaceutical agents and functional foods.
