本研究は、事象理論(Sorter 1969, Sorter et al. 1990)の構成要素のうち「サイクル」の要素をモデル化し、サイクルの概念を用いて現行会計モデルの分析を行うとともに、サイクルモデルの財務報告への意義を検討した。その結果、次の諸点が得られた。(1)Takeshima and Sorter[2009]において現金サイクル、投資サイクル、財務サイクル、および稼得サイクルの4種類の事象サイクル概念を導出した。(2)伝統的財務諸表は、過去・現在・未来のキャッシュフローによって測定される事象をこれら4つのサイクル概念にしたがって分類、開示したものであることを指摘した。(3)財務諸表と別個の報告媒体を使用することにより、リスクなどの予測的データを多様な方法で記述・開示する可能性を示すとともに、公正価値会計のような現代会計の問題解決に向けてサイクルモデルの重要性を見出した。
This research modeled the element of cycle in the events theory, and examined its implications for financial reporting.As a resultTakeshima and Sorter (2009) derived four cycle concepts:the cash, investing, financing, and earnings cycles.This research presented that conventional financial statements classify and report events quantified in terms of past, present, and highly certain future cash flows in line with these four cycle concepts.It pointed out that risks and other predictive data can be disclosed in a separate report outside the current financial statements through various quantitative and/or qualitative methods. It also suggested that the events cycle model could be a useful conceptual tool to examine contemporary accounting issues, such as fair value measurement.
