衛星測距における測距精度向上を目指して、科学衛星の観測データを利用した地球周辺の3次元的な電子密度分布モデルの構築と同モデルを利用した測距信号の伝搬シミュレータの作成を行った。現在、衛星測位の標準となったGPS(Global positioning system)では、伝搬路上のプラズマ粒子による遅延の影響を、薄膜電離層を仮定することにより対処している。これに対し、電離圏を取り囲む広大な領域であるプラズマ圏の各種パラメータ依存性も考慮して遅延補正を行うことでより高精度な見積もりが可能となった。
We developed a new error correction model for satellite navigation systems such as the GPS. The model is based on observations of VLF waves from the Akebono satellite and the GPS data obtained at the IGS (International GNSS service) stations all over the world.
