ハンディーサイズで骨密度の自動評価が可能な光式骨密度計を完成させた。ヒトの標準的な皮膚厚さである2 mm程度であれば、皮膚の光散乱の影響が軽減された計測が可能であることが明らかとなり、本装置は十分な実用性を有していると考えられる。本装置の完成により、定期的な骨密度セルフチェックが実現され、骨粗鬆症の早期発見が可能となることから、高齢者の生活の質の維持および健康寿命の延長に大きく貢献する期待とされる。
In this study, a handy-size optical bone densitometer has been developed and confirmed to be able to automatically acquire bone density signal passing through the skin with a thickness of 2 mm, at least, which is the average thickness of human skin. This results indicate the reliability of this device for clinical application. Periodic self-check of bone density using this device allows us early detection of osteoporosis, contributing to the maintenance of high quality of life and the extension of healthy life expectancy in elderly people.
