アンバランスド・マグネトロン・スパッタ法によるコーティング技術を高度化し,耐熱性を確保した上で潤滑性を有するフリーカーボンを含有させたPVDコーティング工具の開発に成功した.特に, UBMS-TiCN工具は摩擦係数が極めて小さく,代表的な難削材であるSUS304のエンドミル加工において,切削抵抗および切削温度が低く,かつ,平滑な仕上げ面が得られ,工具逃げ面への被削材の凝着も抑制されることを明らかにした.
In this study, some low friction coating films by Unbalanced Magnetron Sputtering(UBMS) method are developed, and are applied to high-speed milling of difficult-to-machine materials. The UBMS coated films, especially UBMS-TiCN have smoother surface without droplets and lower friction coefficient than those of any other AIP coated tools studied. The lubricating ability of the UBMS-TiCN film reduces the cutting force, cutting temperature and adhesion of chips, so that long tool life and good finished surface are obtained.
