研究者は環境負荷低減とレアメタルフリー有機合成を指向し、銅触媒あるいは有機分子触媒による新しい物質合成技術の開発を行った。たとえば、キラルN-ヘテロ環カルベン－フェノール複合配位子のような独自の有機配位子をデザインし、この銅(I)錯体触媒を用いることで、これまで実現困難でった不斉炭素-炭素結合形成反応の開発に繋げた。また、有機分子触媒を活用することで、炭素-ホウ素、ホウ素-ホウ素、炭素-炭素のような化学結合を切断し、不飽和結合に導入する新しい付加型反応を開発した。
The researcher conducted an investigation on the rare-metal-free organic synthesis with “copper catalysis” and “organocatalysis”. For example, the creative and progressive catalysis designs introduced properties of copper catalyst into the principles of highly enantioselective reactions in an innovative manner. The new organocatalytic methodologies for efficient activation of chemical bonds were developed.
