本研究の目的はステレオ方式の高密度・高精度な距離画像生成を実時間で行うVLSIプロセッサを開発することである。本研究の学術的な特色・独創的な点は、１）高速かつ高精度なスーパーピクセル分割アルゴリズム、２）スーパーピクセルを用いた領域境界が明瞭で高速な距離画像生成アルゴリズム、３）実時間実行のための距離画像生成プロセッサ・アーキテクチャ、である。研究の結果、HD 60 fpsの距離画像生成を周波数100 MHzで実時間実行するプロセッサの実現見通しを得た。
The purpose of this study is to develop a VLSI processor which realizes high density and high precision distance image generation from stereo images in real time. The academic features and originality of this research are 1) fast and highly accurate superpixel division algorithm, 2) high speed algorithm to generate range image with clear boundary using superpixels, 3) real-time processor architecture for the algorithm. As a result of the research, we obtained the prospect of realizing a processor that generates distance images with throughput of HD 60 fps at a frequency of 100 MHz.
