ヒトパピローマウイルス（HPV）が関連する難治性の疾患である喉頭乳頭腫の研究モデルを作成するため、培養細胞の樹立を試みた。乳頭腫組織から腫瘍細胞の生着を認めたが、継代することは困難であった。一方、新たな治療の探索のため、腫瘍細胞における免疫染色で、腫瘍のfibrovascular coreにある血管の周囲に血管新生因子である血管内皮増殖因子（VEGF）の発現を確認した。VEGFは血管構造が明らかとなる以前のfibrovascular core様構造箇所に発現していることも確認され、抗VEGF療法の可能性がうかがわれた。
Recurrent respiratory papillomatosis (RRP) is a refractory human papillomavirus (HPV)-associated disease. We tried to establish a tissue culture model of RRP. We confirmed growth of tumor cells in the primary tissue culture. However, continuing growth of those cells could not be achieved in following passage. On the other hand, immunohistochmestry was also performed to investigate a factor for a novel therapy. Expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) was observed around fibrovascular cores of RRP. VEGF was observed in cores without an obvious vascular structure. Therefore, anti-VEGF antibody therapy can be a candidate for a novel therapy of RRP.
