本課題は，近年大きな社会問題となっている熱中症や日常活動中の健康管理等に焦点を当て，深部体温（鼓膜温）・心拍などを「耳介密閉型耳栓」から取得し，スマートフォンと連携させて「熱中症対策や自己健康管理」に利用でき，イヤホンとしても共用可能な「スマートイヤーモニター」の開発を目標した研究である。研究期間では，熱中症発症による事故が深刻な問題となっている条件下においてそれを検知・警告できるような新たな深部体温計測システムを考案・開発・検証，心機能情報を計測するための外耳道における適切な計測部位の検討，体動の検討，およびiPhone用アプリ（iPhysioMeter）の開発を行った。
The final goal of this study was to develop a smart ear monitor for detecting heat illness and/or stress in daily life. In order to accomplish this study, First, we have developed a new methodology for detecting heat illness based on continuous tympanic thermometry in serious hot condition. Second, we have searched for the appropriate part of ear-canal to obtain cardiac beating and normalized pulse volume as a indicator of sympathetic nerve activity. Third, we have developed a new smartphone application named "iPhysioMeter: http://iphysiometer.com/app/", which can measure and easily monitor the physiological variables. These results can yield to the smart ear monitor in the near future.
