近年、高齢者の熱中症は社会問題となっている。高齢者の熱中症発生の機序を考えたとき、高齢者の骨格筋が『運動器』や『熱産生器官（熱源）』（旧来のコンセプト）だけではなく、水を貯蔵して緊急時にはそこから水を血漿へ供給する供給源（ニュー・コンセプト）として働いていること知る。本研究では、高齢者骨格筋のニュー・コンセプトとしての役割を確認したとともに、“筋の水代謝の解明”から「高齢者が脱水にならないための“からだづくり”」の情報・提言を発信した。
This study is a basic study to investigate that the elderly skeletal muscle plays a role of a reservoir of water in body as a new concept. We have recommended the making the body that the elderly do not get dehydrated.
