大気中に存在する氷核活性細菌の定量分析を行うための手法を検討した。氷核活性細菌Pseudomonas syringae(人工降雪剤Snowmax)に対して熱処理を併用した小滴凍結実験を行った結果，鉱物や真核生物などの氷晶核ではみられない低温処理による氷晶核能の低下が氷核活性細菌ではみられた。日本海側の降雪試料を用いた同様の実験においても，低温処理による氷晶核数濃度の低下がみられたことから，大気中に存在する氷核活性細菌の定量化に対する低温処理と小滴凍結法を組み合わせた手法の有用性が示唆された。
The objective of this study is to test an quantitative analytic method for airborne ice nucleating bacteria. By the laboratory experiments, it was confirmed that the ice nucleating activity of Pseudomonas syringae (Snowmax: artificial snow inducer) was decreased by the heat treatment at low temperature. This heat sensitivity of ice nucleating bacteria is different from the sensitivities of other ice nuclei. It was also observed that the numbers of ice nuclei in fresh snow were decreased by the heat treatment at low temperature. This suggests that the heat sensitivity at low temperature may be one of the indicator for the quantitative detection of airborne ice nucleating bacteria.
