本研究では, 高速対応型快削鋼としてBN添加鋼を使用し, 超硬工具を用いたBN添加鋼の切削加工を行い, 工具-被削材間への微量通電が行い被削性におよぼす影響について検討を行った. その結果以下の結論が得られた. 連続切削時の工具摩耗は工具-被削材間の電流により影響を受ける. 電流量が5mAを超えるとそれ以下の場合と比べすくい面摩耗の明らかな減少が見られた. 断続切削では, 適切な電流量を選択することによって, 単に絶縁して電流が流れなくして切削する場合よりもよい切削特性値を示す切削条件が存在する. 電流量に対する切削抵抗の挙動が,電流量に対する工具摩耗量の変化傾向にほぼ一致している. このことから, 工具摩耗を抑制するための最適な通電条件を選定する際, 切削抵抗の変化に注意すれば, 最適な電流量のおおまかな目安になり得る.
