鼻声は一般に閉鼻声と開鼻声にわけられる。耳算咽喉科医が感じる鼻腔共鳴に関連していると思われる声の異常を「鼻声」と定義し以下の検討をおこなった。対象および方法:当大学で慢性副鼻腔炎、アレルギー性鼻炎に対して鼻内視鏡手術を受けた患者13名を対象とした。内視鏡手術の術前と術後1〜2ケ月の時点でナゾメーターによるナザランス値の測定、音声の録音をおこなった。録音音声は音声解析ソフト(KAY社、マルチスピーチ、モデル3700)を用いてフォルマント周波数、帯域幅、振幅を検討した。スピーチサンプルは鼻子音の「な」「に」「ま」「み」、母音「あ」「い」を用いた。結果:ナゾメーターは鼻腔と口腔からでてくる音声の音圧の比を測定する器械である。その測定値をナザランス値という。ナザランス値はいずれの鼻子音でも術後は術前と比べて大きくなった。母音では「あ」の音は術後ナザランス値の変化はなかったが「い」は術後ナザランス値は大きくなった。鼻内視鏡手術により鼻子音のみならず母音もその鼻腔共鳴が影響を受けることが明らかとなった。音響分析は鼻子音のマーマー区間のフォルマントにつき線形予測法にて検討した。術後はすべての鼻子音で第1〜4フォルマントの中心周波数は高音域にシフトした。次にフォルマントの帯域幅の変化をみたところ第一フォルマントでは術後有意差をもって小さくなり、手術により第一フォルマントはより尖鋭化することが確かめられた。これらの結果は鼻子音の音響的な特徴を強調するような方向に変化しているといえる。
