ヴァーチャル・リアリティ（以下VR）・モデルでは聖堂の構造、各部の形状、測量値、図柄、図像の配置、色彩が正確に再現される。本研究ではVRモデルを準一次資料として活用し、考古学・建築史・美術史の研究手法を援用しつつ、カッパドキアにおける岩窟聖堂壁画の編年を精緻化することに取り組んだ。本研究では岩窟を掘削する際にできた鑿・手斧による掘削痕に着目して、これを石工の様式と再定義し、VRモデルを用いてそのパターンを分析した。その結果、時代・地域ごとに掘削痕が異なること、画家と石工の間に一定の協働関係があることが判明し、編年の精緻化することができた。
The Virtual Reality (Hereafter VR) model accurately reproduces the structure of the cathedral, the shape of each part, the surveyed values, the design, the arrangement of the images, and the colors. In this research, this study utilized the VR model as a quasi-primary material, and applied the research methods of archeology, architectural history, and art history, and worked on refining the chronology of the wall paintings of the rock-cut churches in Cappadocia.In this research, we focused on the chips created by the chisel and hatchet when excavating caves, redefined this as masonry's own style, and analyzed the pattern using a VR model. As a result, it became clear that chisel chips were different for each period and region, and that there was a certain cooperative relationship between painters and masons, and the chronology of wall paintings in Cappadocian churches could be refined.
