肝細胞癌に対して治療を行った後、長期間再発しない患者さんもいれば、すぐに再発してしまう患者さんもいて、経過を予測することは困難である。今回の研究では、患者さんが持つ“がんに対する免疫反応（抗腫瘍免疫）”に注目して、切除された肝細胞癌に浸潤した免疫担当細胞（リンパ球など）を調べたところ、同じような肝細胞癌であっても、腫瘍に浸潤した免疫担当細胞の数や種類に大きな違いがあり、その特徴によって再発までの期間や生存率が異なることを明らかにした。
The aim of this study was to immunohistochemically evaluate the surface antigen on tumor infiltrating lymphocytes in hepatocellular carcinoma. We clarified some surface antigen expression on tumor infiltrating lymphocytes into the interior of tumor was a predictive marker for anti-tumor effect of treatment and patients’ outcome.
