文理解研究で注目されている処理の仕組みの1つに「予測」がある。これは時間軸上で高速に展開される文理解処理の各時点で、その後にどのような要素が続くか、全体がどのような言語構造体となるかを先読みするという仕組みである。近年の文理解研究において、この「予測」が原因で文理解処理にかかる負荷の大小が変化するという報告が提出されており、文理解処理における「予測」の働きを解明することは、人間の言語理解モデルの精緻化には不可欠である。本研究では、この「予測」という仕組みの働き方が母語話者の場合と学習者の場合の相違点を明らかにした。
One of the processing mechanisms that has attracted much attention in the study of sentence comprehension is "prediction". This is a mechanism to anticipate at each point in a sentence processing that unfolds rapidly in real-time, what elements will follow and what kind of language structure the whole will become. In recent research on sentence comprehension, it has been reported that the load on sentence comprehension processing changes due to this "prediction", and elucidating the function of "prediction" in sentence comprehension processing is indispensable for elaborating human models of language comprehension. In this study, we examined the differences in the way this "prediction" mechanism works between native speakers and learners.
