本研究では,金属中心の合目的配位空間と反応空間の多重構造化により,酸素活性化二核金属酵素の機能モデルとなる二核銅及び二核鉄ペルオキソ錯体の合成に成功した。1.二核銅(II)ペルオキソ錯体によるC-H結合の酸化反応:これまでにない多様な酸化反応性を持つ(μ-η^2;η^2-peroxo)Cu_2(II)錯体の合成に成功した。(μ-η^2:η^2-peroxo)Cu(II)_2錯体,[Cu_2(O_2)(H-L)]^<2+>(oxy-1,H-L=1,3-bis[bis(6-methyl-2pyridylmethyl)aminomethyl] benzene)は配位子のキシリル基を水酸化することが明らかとなった。また,このoxy-1は,スチレンをもエポキシ化することがわかった。このエポキシ化反応は銅酸素錯体による初めての例である。さらに,様々なC-H結合解離エネルギーを持つ脂肪族化合物のC-H結合を酸化することができ,これまでにない多様な酸化反応性を持つ(μ-η^2:η^2-peroxo)Cu(II)_2錯体の合成に成功した。2.二核鉄(III)ペルオキソ錯体によるアレーンの水酸化反応:生体系にあるToluene monooxygenase (TMO) は,二つの鉄イオンが酸素分子と反応して(μ-1,2-peroxo)Fe_2(III)種を生成し,このペルオキソ種が水酸化反応の活性種として働いていることが最近報告された。本研究では二核鉄(III)ペルオキソ錯体[Fe_2(LPh4)(Ph_3CCO_2)(O_2)]^<2+>(oxy-2,LPh4=N,N,N',N'-tetrakis[(1-methyl-2-phenyl-4-imidazolyl)methyl]-1,3-diamino-2-propanolate)により配位子に組込んだフェニル基の高収率かつ位置選択的な水酸化に成功した。この水酸化反応はTMOの機能モデル反応の初めての例である。
