ハイブリッド型パラレルメカニズムを構成する各パラレルメカニズムの最適な駆動系を決定するために,機構の出力節が任意方向に等方的な力,速度を発生する条件下で,機構の入出力の微分関係を表すヤコビ行列を用い,入力節に必要となる力,または速度の集合を表す式を導く方法を示した.同方法によれば,出力節が発生する,任意方向の力,速度に対して,各入力節に必要となる力,速度の最大値を容易に把握可能となる.さらに,これらの結果に基づき,各種作業を同時に可能なパラレルメカニズムなど多自由度機構の適切な駆動系を決定する方法を提案した.また,実際に試作したパラレルメカニズムにおいて入出力関係を測定することにより,提案した手法の妥当性を確認するとともに,出力節の位置の変化による,出力節の等方的な出力に対する,入力および入力速度の変化を解析することにより,作業領域全体にわたるパラレルメカニズムの運動特性を明らかにした.以上の結果より,機構の構造,寸法により,機構の特性が把握可能となったので,構造の異なる複数の機構,さらに,それぞれの機構において,各寸法の調整による機構特性の変化について検討した.その結果,出力節を可変とすれば,機構の特性を大幅に調整可能となることが明らかになった.そこで,出力節の構造が可変なメカニズムを考案するとともに,要求される動作に応じて,出力節の半径を調整し,位置・姿勢決めを行う制御方法を提案し,その妥当性について実際に試作したハイブリッド型パラレルメカニズムにより確認を行った.
