本研究は,小学校での算数教育の最終段階である第6学年から中学校での数学教育の最初の段階である第1学年にかけての,授業における教室文化と子どもの数学的知識の構成過程の発展・変数学的知識の構成過程発展・変容の様子を,ウィゴッキー派の社会文化理論を視座として分析することを課題とした。平成10年度は,石川県金沢市の公立中学校1年の1クラスを研究対象とし,そこで営まれる数学の研対象として設定し,1年間にわたり参与観察を行った。この参与観察の過程でえられた授業データから、このクラスで社会的に構成されている数学的実践(問題の構成,解法の手だての計画,解法の構成,結果の検討など)の特徴を,「参加」と「談話」の形態という対人的相互行為の概念を分析視点として検討した。一連の分析を通して、当該の授業において特徴的な「参加」と「談話」の形態と生徒の認知活動との相互依存性について暫定的な仮説を設定するとともに,以後の授業で吟味しながら,修正を行い,より妥当性のある命題に洗練した。こうした研究成果の一端は,日本数学教育学会において公表された。
