3つのチームを編成し研究を推進した．研究チーム１は，接触と剥離現象・粒子法，研究チーム２は，ゲル破壊と亀裂進展問題，研究チーム３は，摩擦項を含む不連続界面の解析と断層破壊への応用，を中心に研究をすすめた。チーム１の主要な結果として，相互作用する粒子運動の連続極限問題と境界条件の数学解析，剥離を伴う双曲型PDEモデリングと解析などの成果が得られた．チーム２では，粘弾性モデルおよび粘弾性破壊モデルの変分構造の解析，亀裂の単方向進展モデルの数学解析ほかが得られた．チーム３では，接触や摩擦を含む亀裂問題の数学解析，断層破壊問題の数学解析などについて，多くの成果が得られた．
We conducted the following three research teams. Team 1 studied the contact and delamination phenomena, and the particle systems. Team 2 studied the fracture in gel and crack propagation models. Team 3 focused on the friction and the contact on the discontinuity surface and considered applications to the fault dynamics. The main results we obtained in this project are as follows. (1) mathematical analysis of the continuous limit problem and the boundary conditions for interacting particles [Team 1], (2) mathematical modeling of hyperbolic PDEs with delamination and their analysis [Team 1], (3) variational structures for a viscoelasticity model and a viscoelastic fracture model [Team 2], (4) mathematical analysis of a unidirectional evolution model related to the crack propagation [Team 2], (5) mathematical analysis of crack problems with the friction and the contact [Team 3], (6) mathematical analysis of the fault destruction.
