Note (General): 胃や腸といった消化管に穴が開いた場合には、緊急手術によってその場所を縫い閉じるか切除する必要がある。臓器の切除は手術後の消化機能の低下を引き起こす可能性がある。今回われわれは、腹膜を利用して作製した『腹膜メッシュ』の感染に対する抵抗性を調べ、十分な抵抗性があることを確認した。『腹膜メッシュ』を手術に応用することができれば、消化管の穴を塞ぐ手段として利用できるようになるだろう。これにより臓器の切除を回避することが可能になる。
Gastrointestinal perforation requires emergency surgery with suture closure or resection. Resection of organs may cause deterioration of digestive function after surgery. In this study, we investigated the resistance of “peritoneal mesh” made from peritoneum to infection and confirmed that it was sufficiently resistant. If the “peritoneal mesh” can be applied to surgery, it could be used to close perforations. This would avoid the need to resect organs.
