材料・分子機能に関わる界面分子鎖の構造や物性を分子スケールで理解するために、種々の計測・計算手法を組み合わせる課題に取り組んだ。特に原子間力顕微鏡(AFM)と蛍光デフォーカスイメージングで共通使用できる界面ナノ分子鎖モデルを分子設計し、その調製条件を検討した。その結果、ヒュスゲン環化によるカップリング反応により界面分子鎖モデルを導入し、その構造変化をAFMで可視化できた。さらにその配向やダイナミクスを蛍光デフォーカスパターンから評価できた。同じ試料をAFMと蛍光デフォーカスイメージングで計測できるようになり、それぞれの情報を相補的に組み合わせることで、ナノ分子鎖の分子スケール理解が進展した。
In this project, we combined various measurement and computational methods to understand the structures and properties of interfacial chains at the molecular scale, which are related to materials and molecular functions. In particular, we designed a structural model of interfacial chains that can be applied for both atomic force microscopy (AFM) and defocus imaging using super-resolution fluorescence microscopy. As a result, we were able to introduce the interfacial chains by coupling reaction at the interface using Huisgen cycloaddition and visualize its structural changes by AFM. In addition, the orientation and dynamics of the interfacial chain model were evaluated by the defocused patterns obtained by fluorescence defocus imaging. The same sample can be measured by AFM and fluorescence defocus imaging, and the complementary combination of the information obtained by each method has advanced our understanding of the interfacial chains at a molecular scale.
