我々は、Z型配位子の電子受容性が、中心金属の電子密度を下げてそのルイス酸性を向上し、新たな反応性創出をもたらすのではないかと考えている。そこで、空間制御を意識したZ型配位子(ホウ素)を有する新規金錯体[Au(DPB)L]X (DPB = diphosphine-borane)を各種合成し、触媒反応を検討したところ、一般の金触媒よりもZ型金触媒を用いた場合に、空気中の二酸化炭素を利用した室温下でのプロパルギルアミン誘導体との触媒的環化反応において良好な収率で目的の環化体が生成した。また、Z型金触媒を用いたエン-オール体との反応では7-endo-trig型環化が進行し、対応する2,2-ジメチルオキセパン誘導体が効率よく得られた。Z型配位子は中心金属の電子を受容するため、金属のd電子数や形式酸化数に影響を及ぼす可能性がある。そこで、新規反応性獲得を目的に一般的な3価の金にZ型配位子を導入したAu(DPB)Cl3を合成し、そのカチオン性触媒[Au(DPB)](SbF6)をイン-インドール体と処理したところ、ダイマー型環化体が得られた。さらに本反応は、高収率かつ高ジアステレオ選択的に進行することも見出した。
