• Note (General): 金沢大学理学部; 1.理論的解析 (1) 軸方向に有限な磁場をかけてある誘電体装荷円形導波管内にプラズマを生成しその中に大強度相対論的電子ビームを入射した際の電磁波放射についての分散関係を導出した。真空の場合にも見られるチェレンコフ不安定性,サイクロトロン・チェレンコフ不安定性に加えてビーム・プラズマ不安定性が起こることが分かった。(2)数値解析により不安定性の起こる周波数(放射電磁波の周波数)および不安定性の成長率を求めた。(3)プラズマ周波数が電子のサイクロトロン周波数より低い場合にはプラズマが有ることによるチェレンコフあるいはサイクロトロン・チェレンコフ不安定性の成長率の増加は見られなかったが,プラズマ周波数が電子のサイクロトロン周波数より高い場合にはチェレンコフおよびサイクロトロン・チェレンコフ不安定性の成長率の増加が見られ,またビーム・プラズマ不安定性の成長率の増大も見られた。(4)解析結果は高出力広帯域のマイクロ波放射の可能性を示している。2.実験 (1)アルゴンガスを導入し,ビームによる電離でプラズマを生成し,ビーム伝播について調べ,アルゴンガス圧力が約100mTorr以下のとき,ビーム・プラズマ不安定性によるものと思われる電流増幅現象を観測した。(2)チェレンコフ,サイクロトロン・チェレンコフおよびビーム・プラズマ不安定性によるものと思われるブロードなスペクトルのマイクロ波放射を観測した。全出力はアルゴンガス圧力約100mTorr以上で減少した。これはビーム・プラズマ不安定性が抑えられるからと考えている。; 1. THEORETICAL ANALYSIS(1) We derived a dispersion relation for waves excited by an intense monoenergetic linear relativistic electron beam (IREB) in a plasma-filled dielectric-lined cylindrical waveguide immersed in a finite magnetic field. Finding is that, in addition to the Cherenkov and cyclotron-Cherenkov instabilities which can be excited in a vacuum waveguide, the beam-plasma instabilities are also excited. These instabilities are due to coupling of slow space-charge waves and slow cyclotron waves on the beam with Trivelpiece-Gould modes in the plasma.(2) We analyzed numerically the dispersion relation and derived frequencies and growth rates of these instabilities.(3) When the plasma frequency is lower than the electron cyclotron frequency, enhancement of the growth rates of the Cherenkov and the cyclotron-Cherenkov instabilities due to presence of the plasma are not observed. However, when the plasma frequency is higher than the cyclotron frequency, the growth rates of both instabilities are enhanced, and, moreover, the growth rates of the beam-plasma instabilities are also much enhanced.(4) The growth rates of the latter instabilities are much higher than the growth rates of the former instabilities and we can expect high-power radiation based on this mechanism with broad frequency band.2. EXPERIMENTS(1) We designed and manufactured an experimental device. A plasma was produced by ionizing argon gas introduced into the device with the injected IREB itself. We studied IREB propagation first, and observed current amplification phenomenon when the argon pressure was less than about 100 mTorr. Taking into account results of radiation measurement. we think that this phenomenon is caused by the beam-plasma instabilities.(2) We observed broadband microwave radiation. The total power decreased much for the argon pressure higher than about 100 mTorr. The spectrum of the observed radiation shows contribution from the whole instabilities.
