(1).標準曲線を用いて1x10^7cfu/mlに調整したE.coli(JCM株)菌液1.0mlを、ウィスター系雄性ラットの膀胱を切開して内尿道口より、18Gベヌ-ラ針にて注入し、ラット前立腺炎モデルを作製した。接種後3日後には好中球浸潤とする急性前立腺炎が、7日以降にはリンパ球を主体とする慢性前立腺炎が確認された。サイトカインとの関連については、検討できなかった。(2).臨床例では、5例の急性前立腺炎患者の治療前、3、7、14日後の血清、尿および前立腺圧出液中のIL-1β、IL-6、IL-8をTFBキトおよびEIAプレートリーダー(ELINX 96)を用いて測定した。治療前および治療3日後までは、血中、尿、前立腺圧出液中で、測定した全てのサイトカインは、前立腺圧出液の所見の改善の有無にかかわらず、上昇していた。一方、7日以降にはIL-1β、IL-6は全ての検体で正常レベルへ低下していたが、前立腺圧出液中のIL-8のレベルは前立腺圧出液中の白血球数の改善していない症例では、高値のままであった。(3).一般細菌検査で起炎菌が同定できない、前立腺圧出液中に白血球数が10個以上認められた慢性前立腺炎患者10例の検討では、尿、血清、圧出液中のIL-1β、IL-6は正常値であったが、圧出液中の白血球数が100個以上の2症例では、残尿感、排尿時不快感などの臨床症状を伴っており、前立腺圧出液中のIL-8も高値であった。以上の結果より、前立腺炎においても、IL-1β、6、8は急性期に上昇しており、前立腺においてもサイトカインネットワークが存在し、難治症例においては前立腺より産生されるIL-8が関与していることが示唆された。
