変分問題に関するモ-ス流を対象に、数値解析理論の構築とプログラムの開発を目標に研究を進めてきた。この手法は、時間の各ステップを、差分微分型エネルギー汎関数の最小化関数として決めるというもので、菊地紀夫慶大教授らによって研究が進められてきた方法に基づく。本研究では3次元球の内部から3次元球の表面への調和写像に関する離散的モ-ス流を構成し、数値解析プログラムも作成した。これは、放物型の方程式に対して、近似的なエネルギー最小化法で解を構成するという点で新しい。このプログラムは、境界での写像度が1の場合には、正常に動作していることが確認され、その結果を京都大学数理解析研究所の共同研究集会「変分問題とその周辺」('94.9.12-->9.14)で発表した。さらに、結果を整理して現在投稿準備中である。この他にも、非線形双曲型方程式の数値解析プログラムも開発した。こちらは、時間とともに減衰する解の挙動を追っており、長澤壮之東北大助教授と共同で、北海道大、金沢大等の集中講義で結果の紹介がなされている。これも、現在投稿準備中である。これらの研究の応用として、Nematic液晶の問題、超伝導の問題が考えられ、現在この視点からも、研究を継続している。これらの、視点を得るための研究打ち合わせ等に本科学研究費は重要な役割をはたした。
