本研究では、研削加工における気体冷却効果の有効性を検討することにある。本年度は、気体冷却研削の装置と光カプラ型二色温度計を作製し、光ファイバカプラを利用した二色温度計を用いて砥石砥粒切れ刃と加工物の温度測定を行った。装置はコンプレッサ、エアフィルタ、エアドライア、熱交換機から成っており、コンプレッサで圧縮された空気はエウフィルタで微細なゴミを除去した後、エアドライアで乾燥され、熱交換機で冷却される。また、装置には流路に流量計を取り付けている。熱交換機は断熱容器に満たした液体窒素の中に銅管を設置したもので、この管中に空気を通して冷却する。二色温度計は、光ファイバカプラと二種類の感度の異なる光電変換素子から成り、微小な熱源の高速な温度変化を測定し得る。同装置を用いて得られる冷却空気は、流量3000N1/hで約-80℃であった。鋼材(S55C)を加工物とし、切込み量10μmで研削加工を行い、切れ刃温度を測定した結果、切れ刃の温度分布は乾式の研削の場合に比べて、全体的に約100℃低くなった。また、観測される切れ刃数も少なくなることが確認された。同様の実験における加工物の温度測定結果は、乾式・気体冷却両方式で約50℃の温度差を生じた。現在は、得られた結果から冷却気体の流量がより大きい実験下で条件を行っている。また今後、熱解析を行い、実験結果と比較検討する。
