炭素・炭素結合の開裂により、孤立電子をもつラジカル種が生成する可能性がある化合物を幾つか合成し、その熱および光による反応を検討した。反応の中間に生成するビラジカルは、期待に反して揺動的性質を示す安定な分子種として単離はできず、さらに反応へと進行し、意外な転位生成物を与えた。さらに、水素原子が、或る結合位置から分子中の別の位置に移り変わり、また元の位置に戻るという運動を繰り返している化合物を幾つか合成し、そのダイナミックな挙動の分子構造上の要因を明らかにした。With the intention of exploring new diradical species which show dynamic interconversion between recombination and bond cleavage, possible precursor compounds were designed, prepared and characterized. Among those, a spiro-cyclohexadienone compound was found to undergo unusual photoinduced rearrangements via a diradical intermediate. Dynamic proton migration was found in some imino-enamine compounds and in precursor compound for galvinoxyl radicals.
