近年、様々な生理機能を示すことが報告されている柑橘リモノイドであるが、柑橘類の種子中に多く含まれるため、食品からの摂取効果はあまり期待できない。またリモノイドを多く含む柚子は生産量の約半分の重量が廃棄されていることから、申請者は柚子をまるごとすり潰し、柑橘リモノイドを多く含む柚子ペーストを開発し、機能性食品としての廃棄物活用を検討している。本研究では、骨粗鬆症の予防に貢献しうる、骨代謝に与える柑橘リモノイドの効果について検討したところ、柚子に多く含まれるリモノイドであるノミリンが骨吸収を担う破骨細胞の分化抑制作用を有することが明らかとなった。Recently, it has been reported that a citrus limonoid has various physiological functions, however, it is contained in large amounts in citrus seeds, so the effects of intake from food can not be expected.In addition, since about half of the weight of yuzu containing a large amount of limonoid is discarded, we develop a special paste containing a large amount of citrus limonoid, and aim to use waste effectively as functional food.In this study, we examined the effects of citrus limonoids on bone metabolism that can contribute to the prevention of osteoporosis, and it was found that nomlin, which is a limonoid often contained in Yuzu, has inhibitory effect on osteoclast differentiation.
