• Note (General): 本計画書は、深地層の科学的研究のうち、地質環境の長期安定性に関する研究における今後5か年(第2期中期計画期間、2010年$\sim$2014年)の基本計画である。本計画の策定にあたっては、関係研究機関の動向や大学などで行われている基礎研究を精査したうえで、関係法令や報告に留意しつつ、研究の基本的な考え方,研究開発の方向性,研究課題,達成目標,推進方策などを取りまとめた。さらに、実施主体や規制機関のさまざまなニーズのうち重要性と緊急性を考慮して研究計画の重点化を図った。なお、第2期中期計画では、調査技術の開発・体系化,長期予測・影響評価モデルの開発,年代測定技術の開発の3つの枠組みで研究開発を推進していく。; The concept of geological disposal of HLW in Japan is based on a multibarrier system which combines a stable geological environment with an engineered barrier system. Potential geological host formations and their surroundings are chosen, in particular, for their long-term stability, taking into account the fact that Japan is located in a tectonically active zone. This report is to outline 5 years plan (fiscal years 2010-2014) of research and development (R\&D) for geosphere stability for long-term isolation of the high-level radioactive waste in JAEA. Background of this research are clarified with the necessity and the significance, and the past progresses in this report. The objectives, outline, contents and schedule during the next 5 years are described in detail. In addition, the plan framework is structured into the following categories: (1) Development and systematization of investigation techniques, (2) Development of models for long-term estimation and effective assessment, (3) Development of dating techniques.
