• Note (General): 東濃鉱山とその周辺域においては、主として地表から深度約150mまでに分布する新第三紀堆積岩(瑞浪層群)を対象に、「ウラン鉱床を胚胎し断層などの地質学的特徴を有する堆積岩中における物質の移行・遅延特性を把握すること」および「坑道周辺部の地質環境や堆積岩中の断層などを総合的に調査・評価するための技術を開発すること」を目標とした4項目の調査試験研究を実施している。2000年度に得られたおもな成果の概要を以下のとおりである。「岩盤の力学的安定性に関する調査試験研究」においては、堆積岩および花崗岩中の初期応力状態を把握した。また、空圧式クリープ試験装置を開発するとともに、岩盤の長期挙動評価のための基礎情報を取得した。「坑道周辺の地質環境に関する調査試験研究」においては、東濃鉱山北延NATM坑道周辺の三次元的な間隙水圧分布の長期観察を開始するとともに、TDR(Time Domain Reflectometry)法による岩盤中の不飽和領域計測に適用できるパッカー式プローブを開発した。また、坑道周辺岩盤中における酸化・還元状態の変化領域に関する予察的な情報を取得した。「岩盤中の物質移動に関する調査試験研究」においては、地下水および岩石の地球化学的特性に関するデータセットの拡充を図った。また、地下水中の微生物の存在量などに関する予察的な情報を取得した。「月吉断層に関する調査試験研究」においては、月吉断層および付随する破砕帯の空間分布、幾何学的形状および活動時期・様式に関する新たな知見を得た。; The current geoscientific studies in the Tono mine have been carried out since 1998. The main aims of the studies are to assess solute transport/retardation in Tertiary sedimentary rocks that hosts uranium ore bodies and to develop comprehensive techniques for the characterisation of faults, near-field geological environments around tunnels, etc in the sedimentary formation. A variety of results were obtained in the 2000 financial year in four different tasks involved in the studies. Experimental studies on the mechanical stability of the rock mass defined in situ stress states in the sedimentary formation and the basement granite. To elucidate the long-term behaviour of the rock mass, a pneumatic creep testing apparatus was developed and fundamental information was obtained. In the tunnel near-field geological environments, long-term measurements of the 3D distribution of pore water pressure were started and redox conditions were preliminarily investigated. A packer-type TDR (Time Domain Reflectometry) probe was developed, which can be applied to the in situ characterisation of an unsaturated zone. As part of studies on solute transport/retardation in the rock mass, hydrochemical and geochemical data sets used in solute transport calculations were continuously improved. Preliminary information on microbes in groundwater was obtained. With respect to the Tsukiyoshi fault observed in the sedimentary rocks, a spatial distribution, geometrical features and the past fault movements were described on the basis of detailed examination on cores.
