- 出版タイプ： NA原子力発電および高速増殖炉を含む10種の科学技術についての人々の意識を調査し、一般の科学技術に対するこれら原子力技術の危険性と利便性に関する位置づけを行った。さらにこれらをもとに、原子力技術が社会に広く受容されるための方策を検討した。1998年10月、福井県嶺北部1000名および嶺南部500名に対して調査員設問留置法により、近畿圏都市部1000名および全国の原子力専門家350名に対して郵送調査法により、同一内容の約30問からなる意識調査を行った。当調査では原子力発電の賛否やそれから連想される言葉、各種の科学技術への関心度やニュースメディアへの注目度、およびそれらの危険性や利便性の諸要因に対する態度などを質した。データは対象層の属性毎に整理し、比較検討した。さらに原子力技術に注目して、これに対する属性間での意識の相違や特徴、特異性などを明らかにした。また、一般生活者と研究者との間の原子力技術に対する著しい意識に違いについても明らかにし、「技術的安全」と「社会的安心」の乖離の実態を明確にした。新たに得られたこれらの知見をもとに、原子力技術の更なる社会受容に向けての提言も行った。
